CUE Events for 2023

JALT CUE Conference 2023

The JALT CUE 2023 Conference took place from September 15th to 18th, 2023, at Toyama University (富山大学) in Gofuku, Toyama. It was a face-to-face event.

The theme for CUE 2023 was "CUEing for Success - Teacher Reflection and Self-Care in Tertiary Education". The experiences of the past few years have made clear the importance of acknowledging the human element of teaching including the following:

• reflective teaching needs and practices
• personal & professional development and growth
• self-care strategies (including but not limited to mentorship, mental health, self-advocacy, work-life boundaries, understanding your employment rights in Japan, preparing for retirement, etc.)
• awareness of neurodiversity and inclusivity in the classroom
• the psychological challenges of adapting to various educational modalities

We welcomed presentations that address the themes above within tertiary education contexts, especially in Japan. The goals of the conference were to celebrate the 30th anniversary of CUE, provide opportunities for research advancement, and create and nurture connections between tertiary educators and students.
